Tax Credits Renewal 2016/2017

Tax credits renewal packs are already being sent out, however, if you don’t receive your renewal pack by 27th June 2016, call the tax credits helpline (0345 3003900) for a duplicate.

You will need to make your renewal by 1 of 3 ways – sending off the postal forms, calling the tax credit hotline, or the newly introduced online submission through the HMRC Online Project – Your Account, something Harvey Telford & Bates advised on earlier in the year.

If you choose the phone option, it is essential to do as soon as possible.  The phone lines at HMRC get increasingly busier the closer you get to the 31st July deadline, sometimes even just cutting you off!

HMRC are therefore encouraging all users where possible to use the new online system.  In addition to renewing your tax credits claims you can also manage your tax liabilities and see your state pension forecasts.

New elements are being added to the “Your Account” function, currently with the aim of users being able to access all of their relevant HMRC information and to manage it from the main online hub – reducing the uncertainty of paper applications not arriving or accessing the HMRC hotline, which can be hard for users to access, particularly at peak times of year such as renewals or self-assessment deadlines.

If you require guidance on managing your tax credits renewal, or would like assistance from Harvey Telford & Bates regarding managing HMRC matters – why not call our team today or book an appointment at our Shrewsbury.
