Self-assessment clock ticks down to under 100 days

There are now less than 100 days left until the deadline for self-assessment online return submission, HMRC offers a reminder to taxpayers.

Those who are self-assessment taxpayers will have until 31 January 2023 to submit their online return for the 2021/22 tax year. HMRC states that 66,000 taxpayers had already filed their tax return by 6th of April, the first day of the new tax year.

“It’s widely encouraged to complete your tax return as soon as you can, so you are aware of what you owe and can budget appropriately to make the payment by the 31st of January 2023. This will also ensure that if repayment is due, it can be claimed back sooner!” Danielle Harvey, Director of HTB

Over 95% of taxpayers filed online last year, and those who submit their returns early still have until the 31st of January 2023 to pay.

“With 100 days to go until the online deadline, there’s still time to complete your tax return, to budget and look into the range of payment options if you need to.” – Myrtle Lloyd, HMRC’s Director General for Customer Services
