HMRC Publish Details of Deliberate Tax Defaulters

The list contains details of taxpayers who have received penalties either for making deliberate errors in their tax returns or deliberately failing to comply with their tax obligations.

HMRC may publish information about a deliberate tax defaulter where an investigation has been carried out and the taxpayer has been charged one or more penalties for deliberate defaults and the penalties involve tax of more than £25,000. Details are only published once the penalties are final.

The list contains the company name, business trade or occupation, address, period of default, total amount of tax/ duty on penalties and the total amount of penalties charged.

Amy Telford, Director at Harvey Telford and Bates Chartered Accountants said: “No business wants to fall onto the tax defaulters list. If your business is struggling to keep up to date with tax payments, please give our team a call. We will provide all the financial advice you need to prevent you from into the tax defaulter’s category.”
